S355JO steel is a low-alloy structural steel featuring controlled carbon (≤0.22%), a maximum of 1.6% manganese, and very low levels of phosphorus and sulfur (≤0.035%). The “JO” designation guarantees high impact toughness at 0°C, and the steel is supplied in a normalized condition (“+N”) to ensure consistent mechanical properties. In terms of mechanics, S355JO sheets and plates boast a minimum yield strength of 355 MPa, tensile strength ranging from 470 to 630 MPa, and an elongation of 20–22%, which translates to excellent ductility, weldability, and resistance to dynamic and low-temperature loads.
