S355JR steel is a low-alloy structural steel characterized by controlled carbon (≤0.22%), manganese (1.6% max), and low levels of phosphorus and sulfur (≤0.035%). The “JR” designation signifies excellent impact toughness at 20°C. In terms of mechanical properties, S355JR sheets and plates boast a minimum yield strength of 355 MPa, a tensile strength ranging from 470 to 630 MPa, and an elongation of 20–22%. This combination of toughness, ductility, and weldability makes S355JR ideal for fabrication, welding, and forming processes without sacrificing structural performance.
